Russia: Possible cuts of US chips imports target rivals

MOSCOW, Jan 20 (PRIME) -- Possible limitation of semi-conductor supplies to Russia from the U.S. and chips with the use of U.S. technologies continues Washington’s policy of squeezing out rivals from the market, Russian Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov said on Thursday via the ministry’s press service.

“There is nothing groundbreaking in the announced intentions. Evidently, it is continuation of the U.S.’ policy of elbowing of any, even potential competitors from the market. A good example is actions towards Huawei,” Manturov said.

“There are almost no supplies from the U.S. to the Russian Federation of critical electronics, while the mass segment is represented mainly by manufacturers from China and Southeast Asia on the global market.”

Media reported earlier quoting sources that the White House had warned U.S. electronic chips producers that if Russia escalates the situation with Ukraine, the exports can be limited.
